What counts as a sport?

I thought it'd be cool to see how many sports I could come up with and name, and there's quite a lot. Which made me realize what is the definition of a sport? do you have to break a sweat or can it be based off of solely using you're mind, in that case can almost everything we do be a sport?

As I attended my first hockey game on Thursday (3/18/10) the Bruins played the Penguins. The Bruins lost 3-0, with Marc-Andrew Fleury making 17 saves for the penguins and making it the first shutout of their season. But when the game was over I couldn't help but hearing more about the two fights during the game (which the bruins won) than who won or lost the game, is this how hockey is?

BOSTON, Mass. -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team dropped a heart-breaking 7-6 overtime decision to #4 Boston College on Saturday night in the 2010 Hockey East title game at the TD Bank Garden. The Black Bears scored a pair of goals in the final 5:01 of the game to force overtime and had on three different occasions tied the game. Maine finishes with a record of 19-17-3 on the season, while Boston College improves to 25-10-3.
